What should I bring with me when I come for an outpatient visit?
A referral letter from your GP or specialist if you have one. Any previous medical records you hold including X rays/scans or previous cardiac tests.
A list of medication and any known medicine allergies that you have. Details of your medical insurance policy number and pre-authorization number.
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
Whilst not strictly necessary it is useful to have a referral from your GP. Please note that some insurance companies may not reimburse you
if you have not been referred by your GP or an approved specialist.
What should I expect during my first visit?
On arrival the hospital will ask you to complete a registration form. Please make sure you have your insurance company membership number and pre- authorization number to hard. If you have a referral letter from your GP please bring give this to the clinic staff. We will usually record an
electrocardiogram (ECG), make measurements of your height and weight and perform a urine test. If you have recently had an ECG then it may not
be necessary to repeat this test. During your initial consultation I will spend 30 minutes recording your full medical history and undertaking a physical
examination. Following this further investigations may be recommended which can usually take place on the same day and a treatment plan which
may involve lifestyle measures and possibly drug therapy will be given. A follow up appointment can be arranged to discuss the results of
any tests and to assess the impact of treatment.
What happens after my visit?
Your GP or referring specialist will receive a letter detailing all of the information obtained during your consultation, the examination findings and
the results of any investigations. A diagnosis and treatment plan will be detailed. You will receive a copy of the letter which may be sent either by
post or e-mail.
What will I be expected to pay on the day?
You will receive an invoice for your consultation from Dr Bogle. If you have medical insurance and you have a pre-authorization number then the
invoice will be forwarded directly to the insurance company. Please note you will receive a separate a bill from the hospital for any tests carried out.
Some hospitals charge for any investigations performed on the day.
Are you recognised by my insurance company?
Dr Bogle is recognised by all major private health insurance companies in the UK and patients with private medical insurance should contact
their insurance company prior to the appointment in order to obtain a pre-authorisation code or claim number. We will send your invoice directly to
an insurer if we have a pre-authorisation code. Please note that ultimate responsibility for payment lies with the patient and therefore it is
important the exact level of cover and any potential shortfall (for which the patient will be liable) is established.
Do you accept card payment?
We accept all major credit and debit cards and my practice manager will Can happy to assist with payment.
Please note that if paying by credit card or American Express a 3.5% processing fee will be charged.
Do you charge VAT?
No. Medical services by registered health professionals are 0% rated for VAT. Further information can be found here
Do you see self funding and international patients?
Yes, prior to your appointment we would kindly request your credit or debit card details so that payment for your consultation may be obtained
efficiently.
Do you have a cancellation policy:
Should you need to cancel your appointment please give at least 24h notice. Failure to cancel an appointment may lead to a charge which will
not be covered by health insurance.
Are my medical records kept private and confidential?
Your medical file is handled with the utmost respect for your privacy. Patient details and correspondence are stored on a secure computer system
and we are registered under the data protection act. My staff are bound by strict confidentiality requirements as a condition of employment
regarding your medical records. We will not release the contents of your medical file without your consent. My practice is registered under the
Data Protection Act.
Can I switch between private and NHS care?
Its is possible to switch from seeing me in the private sector to the NHS but in this situation I will require a new letter of referral from your GP to
the NHS hospital you wish to be seen at. Under these circumstances consultations and diagnostic investigation waiting times will be subject to the
standard NHS arrangements and priority for patients previously treated in the private sector is not possible. Please not that in my NHS clinic I work
with a team and therefore I cannot guarantee that you will be seen by me at every visit.
