Epsom Cardiac Day Unit and Catheterisation Laboratory

At the end of November 2015 we were delighted to open the new Cardiac Day Unit and Catheterization Unit at Epsom Hospital. Having worked on plans for over 2 years the Unit transformed the ground floor of the Woodcote Wing. We have partnered with InHealth to provide the Catheter Laboratory and the service currently operates on Wednesday and Thursday every week providing a coronary angiography service for day case patients from Epsom and St Helier Hospitals as well as inpatients from Epsom Hospital. This is a really important development for our hospital and puts us into a position to be able to further our cardiology services for local patients.  Since opening we have now treated over 1000 patients in the unit and the waiting time for a coronary angiogram is less than 6 weeks. Virtually all of our cases are done through the radial artery in the wrist.
